Revision of the EU legislation on blood, tissues and cells

In October 2020, the Commission adopted its Work Programme for 2021, including the proposed revision of Directive 2004/23/EC on safety and quality of human tissues and cells and their implementing acts.
The revision is planned to be adopted in the last quarter of 2021.

The legislative proposal was preceded by an Impact Assessment whereby stakeholders, authorities and citizens were invited to submit comment on the roadmap up to 14 December 2020- 82 submissions were received and the feedback will be taken into account as the Impact Assessment proceeds.
